"The stimulus for my work may be an aspect of nature - perhaps a landscape vista or a striking pattern of stones or branches.

Beyond realistic depiction, I seek an interpretative viewpoint, seeing freshly, and perhaps contemplatively, what is in plain sight. Sometimes, in the process of painting, an entirely 'imaginary' landscape may emerge. It's fun giving paint room to 'do its own thing', to an extent, while crafting it to completion.. It is this aspect of the creative process I most enjoy - the serendipity of playing in paint - playing, but with intention!

Through colour, form, line and texture, I try to evoke ways of seeing differently the beauty around us  - to awaken attention and to intensify perception, hopefully in an enlightening way."
