                          Robert Ikin
          "GHOST SHIPS"

Eighteen New Works in The Inner Gallery

Robert Ikin is a legend in his lifetime .. a Tasmanian who has been an outstanding educator and an innovative and prolific artist, well known

here and beyond our shores.                                                                                                                                                                                 Robert has taken part in so many major exhibitions, in this country and others - has worked across so many  different disciplines, that a short      book could be written to cover even a small part of his achievements.                                                                                                                  All of these works were created with this Exhibition in mind and it is indeed an honour to have him on the walls at Raincoat. ..

Robert wrote the following about this Collection of new pieces :                                                                                                                                    “These works are an accumulation of ideas and visitations; sometimes the work is repurposed or rejuvenated, but always in flux; ideas and

method never static - really the modus operandi of most artists. The stories I tell can be covert, open to interpretation or overt with what

you see at the same time also being open to interpretation. I feel that my work is imbued with a feeling for human-ness, its foibles,

its humour, its aggressions, its spiritual essence, its joys and sadnesses.

I have worked with a variety of media - from paint, pencil, collage, montage, photography, light box, ceramic, found objects

and also digital mediums.”
