Sarah Walters

Many of you will remember Sarah's beautiful bells here at Raincoat (and you may have seen her work elsewhere as well!)  Sarah is not only a ceramicist, but also an outstanding violinist and string teacher, who came to our state not too long ago and who, against all odds, is now very much committed to staying!  Her working life began as a scientist of some notoriety, but she defected to the Arts (in the field of Music, where she has also excelled), and has now thrown her considerable intellect at the art of making ceramics...

Edna Broad

Edna and her expansive body of work will be familiar to many of you.  Over the years, Edna has contributed as an artists and teacher to so many in our community.  Living close to the Cirt Centre, working and studying at the University of Tasmania Acadamy of the Arts, being part of the fabric of the Tin Shed Studio for years and exhibiting extensively (most recently at the Blenheim Gallery near Longford), Edna's work reflects the many aspects of our built and natural local environment.

Lynn Kelly

It is a great delight to have more of Lynn's beautiful, watery pieces on the walls.  Her works have an uncanny way of projecting the viewer into unexpected dimensions - on the surface, under it and beyond - all happening at once!
Lynn taught Senior Secondary Art and Graphic Design for many years and now, having "retired," and having the time to stretch her own winds as an artist, is producing some truly outstanding work.  We are privileged to have ger with us!

Michael Beamish

These works are a selected group from a collection of images very dear to Michael's heart - part of a work from 2021: "Water, a Photographic Image Assembly".  He has long had a profound interest in the effects of water on the environment, on human habitation - in the effects of water in all its forms: from droplets to wild floods.
These six sensitive images capture the stunning effect that flooding has on Launceston's Cataract Gorge - especially in particular light conditions which he, as a photographer is always tracking!

Kevin Lund

Kevin was out first major Exhibitor - with wonderful work on burnt pine and also watercolour paper.  Originally from the Midwest in the USA, he has called Tasmania home for more than 20 years.  Now teaching Art at Launceston College, he finds time to pursue his passion... His work is intensely personal and tends towards abstraction - even whimsy!... as these two glorious ladies indicate!!

Patrick Sutczak

This is another piece from a large and extraordinary instillation, giving a new life to discarded wood, looking for the beauty in the grain, highlighting its worth and heightening awareness of our environment.  Patrick is a sensitive, responsive and inspired part of the funny "team", here at Raincoat.  Look at the amazing way all of the work is presented for you and cheer!!

Garry Billing

As you can see, Garry has been very busy since his solo exhibition here at Raincoat just before Christmas!  You can give yourselves a good mental hug for your support, whether it was by buying one of his works or just coming and admiring and leaving behind some enthusiastic comments.  How nice that is... Two new works - again, full of joyous colour and food for thought!

Chris Morgan

Chris' work is heavily influenced by Tasmanian Wilderness areas which speak to him of the past, and all of its implications.  He always looks into and beneath the surface of this subject matter - producing sensitive, beautiful and thought-provoking images.
